DECEMBER OFFICERS REPORTS

President’s Report
HELLO fellow riders. A new year is coming for our chapter so let’s start it off right. Lots of new changes are coming to our chapter. We have to get back to the meaning of A.B.A.T.E.. This means to have events for Fed Pac, State Pac, to help in state, fed laws. We will have a lot of time to do things for our chapter events, our runs, pool games, etc to keep our funds up. So please bear with me and all other officers. We have a few new ones in office. Always think motorcycles murph…… Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year

Vice- President’s Report
Hey everyone thanks to all who came out to support our Christmas For Kids Program. It was a great time and the committee deserves a big hand. They did a tremendous job. I can’t wait till spring we are going to have several changes to our activities schedule. Fletch is already working on it and I know that I can’t wait. All the new officers are fired up and ready to go so I know we are going to have a great year. Check out the article about our new monthly drawing. I think some of you will be interested in it. I hope to see everyone at the Broomstick Pool Tournament. Have a merry Christmas and a Blessed and Safe New Year. Mimi

Public Relations
December is an exciting time with only 4 months to riding time again. Bikes are stored up but activities will keep us strong. A live remote broadcast was held at Ram Telecom in Carlyle on Nov. 24th with WDLJ 97.5 to fill a trailer of toys. Our Christmas For Kids party was great and this PR totally embarrassed herself that night. Oh, it’s not what you think! Dirty Monkey put on a really good show and so many thanks to John Corey and the Popular Place staff for their hospitality. So many people helped to make this great and all our work with the events up to Christmas paid off. To each and everyone who bid on items or helped may your heart feel warm with what you helped us to do! Keep an eye out for the events coming up in the January ‘08 newsletter or better yet attend the chapter meeting. Please remember to stay safe and joyful dreams of the upcoming rides. Hope all your Christmas wishes come true and may blessings to you and yours.
Darlene

MERRY CHRISTMAS

SGT. Of Arms
FIRST OF ALL, JO- JO & I WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE FOR GIVING US THE PRIVELEGE OF BEING YOUR SGT. OF ARMS FOR THE UP COMING YEAR.
FLETCH HAS GOT SOME GOOD TIMES PLANNED OUT FOR US AND WE ALL JUST NEED TO KEEP IN MIND THAT SAFETY COMES FIRST.
IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AS AN INDIVIDUAL TO THINK FOR YOURSELVES, AND IT IS JO-JO & I THAT WILL LEAD YOU BACK HOME.
WHEN I STEPPED UP LAST YEAR THERE WERE A FEW THINGS I SAW THAT I’D LIKE TO NOT SEE.
WHEN LEAVING A STOP ALONG THE EVENT, LET’S NOT START UP & REV THE BIKES BEFORE THE LEADERS HAVE GOTTEN TO THEIR POSITIONS. WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE TO GET THINGS IN ORDER.
ANOTHER THING I’D LIKE TO ASK IF NOT TO CROWD TO THE FRONT.
WAIT UNTILL THE LEADERS AND “BLOCKERS”ARE UP FRONT. WE ARE NOT GOING TO LEAVE ANYONE.
THIS YEAR WERE DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
WHEN YOU SIGN UP & PAY YOUR MONEY THERE WILL BE A LIST FOR VOLUNTEERS TO HELP JO-JO & ME OUT FOR THAT RUN I’D LIKE TO SEE SOME NEW FACES STEP UP AT EACH EVENT.
THIS WILL ENCLUDE PAC RUN BOOGIE & ANY OTHER SUCH THINGS.
WE’RE ALMOST 500 STRONG.THAT MEANS WE ALL HAVE AT LEAST THAT MANY BOTHERS & SISTERS TO HELP GET HOME TO BE SOMEONE WHO’S COUNTING ON THEM & US.
IF ANYONE WANTS TO CALL ME, MY NUMBER IS IN THE FRONT.LEAVE A MESSAGE IF I DON’T ANSWER.
JUST REMEMBER THAT BITCHING GETS YOU NOWHERE. BE CIVILIZED.
EVEN IF YOU WANNA CALL TO INTRODUCE YOURSELF, LINES ARE OPEN 8AM. TO 9PM.
AS FOR THIS WRITING, MY WIFE SANDY & I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH A FUTURE A.B.A.T.E. MEMBER LOGAN MATTHEW WAS BORN NOV 18TH, 2007 HE WEIGHED 6LBS. 8OZ & WAS 20” LONG AND HEALTHY AS CAN BE.
UNTIL NEXT TIME, REMEMBER, BIKERS HAVE MORE FUN THAN PEOPLE DO.

PUBLIC RELATIONS/DARLENE MARCELLO
Wow! Oct. has just flown by. We've already had the elections and installed the officers and to those congratulations. We've collected money for the Halloween Parade and won a plaque for the most money collected. For those of you who stood on the four corners I want to thank you for your dedication to our chapter. We entered a float in the parade and won 2nd place in the civic category and a round of applause to those of you who worked towards this accomplishment. I say look out next year, I can see the top prize in our future. On Nov. 3rd we collected money for Christmas For Kids and I want to say our chapter has some of the greatest people who dedicate time to work for our chapter. Christmas For Kids is going heavy and strong with our party on Dec. 1st. I once as a child was helped by a special man who bought my Christmas to make sure my Christmas morning would be special and I will never forget him for it. I want to say I have taken on an important office and I
know with the support of my fellow members and friends I will try to do my best to do a job well done. The holidays will be here soon so lets make sure we stay safe and God Bless. Darlene

Adopt- a –Soldier
One of our members sent a letter for a special request from one of our 1st Adopt-a- soldier recipients Tommy Woodward.

Connie:

I don't know if you met the soldiers that came in from Tennessee to the Red Dog at the first adopt a soldier fund-raiser, but Tommy Woodward (Lisa's brother), was very instrumental in helping us kick off this program and the chapter actually received a lot of community support for how the program was helping our deployed. Frost was one of the guys that came to the fund-raiser and as you can see from below, he is now deployed again. This is a special request from Tommy and I hope there is some way the committee can fulfill the request.

Thanks!

This letter was brought up at the November meeting. Our Adopt-a-Soldier program does only send care packages to local soldiers but we really loved the guys who came with Tommy to support our fundraiser so instead of taking money from our program because SSG Thomas Frost is not from the area we took a collection at the meeting and a care package will be sent.
Freedom Riders really appreciate all the soldiers fighting for our freedom and we are very happy we could do this.

ACTIVITIES
Welcome all new officers. Thanks for stepping up and supporting the cause for all bikers on and off road.
And to all that has helped in 2007. We’ve had a great year; our rides are the best in the area. The only problem I have seen is that some people want to jump out in front of the leaders! We will follow your leader! We will have all 2008 events in the Jan newsletter.
Thanks to all!

MiMi’s PR Report
We had such a great time at the Centralia Halloween parade. Everyone looked great in their costumes. We should have had a costume contest although it would have been hard to be the judge. The float was excellent. We took 2nd place in the civic category of the parade. Everyone worked so hard on the float. Thanks to all for the hard work. WJBD interviewed me the night of the parade. I got to talk for several minutes on what A.B.A.T.E. stands for and how proud Freedom Riders are to be involved in our communities’ activities. We would like to thank John Groff for taking time off to pull our float. Your truck looked great and all your help was greatly appreciated.
Thanks to all the members for making Freedom Riders 20th anniversary year so great. So many members helped and supported our events this year. Thanks for all you do to make Freedom Riders, A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois, Inc. such a great organization. I hope to see you at our Christmas for Kids events that are coming up.

I would like to congratulate all the new officers for 2008.
I would also like to wish Bill Jones a speedy recovery. Freedom Riders are thinking of you.
Take Care,
MiMi
