On Feb 5, 2010 at 7:00 pm to benefit Freedom Riders and Chapter 27.

Proceeds will go to Murray Center (Freedom Riders), Amy Center (Chapter 27) and Granada Theater (Will be split three ways)

Flyer will go in our newsletter. We can bring products to sell. Chapter 27 is ok with it. (they will also be doing the concert On Saturday, July 10, 2010 for our back to School program at the Band Shell)all proceeds go to this program to help us to get fill the back packs.

Legislative Report

HAPPY NEW YEAR FREEDOM RIDERS!!! I can tell its going to be a good year already with 47 bikes & a few cars for the new years day ride.It was cold but fun was had by all even Lil John AKA (Muhammad Browneye). Not a lot going on right now but i have a couple of things to report.

A.B.A.T.E. Of Illinois “LEGISLATIVE DAY” will be Thursday,March 11, 2010. The evening reception will be held at the State House Inn located at 101 E. Adams,Springfield,IL.62701. For anyone wanting to reserve a room call the State House Inn ASAP at 217-528-5100. Look for more information on Legislative Day in the February state newspaper.

President Obama has announced that he has nominated David L. Strickland to be the new administrator for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration(NHTSA).His work in advising Commerce committee members led to the inclusion of several significant vehicle safety mandates.Mr. Strickland advised Congressioal members on safety reforms and funding increases for the NHTSA's seatbelt and drunk driving programs.His nomination was the subject of a Senate hearing where he faced no opposition.The MRF looks forward to working with Strickland and hopes he takes a sensible approach to motorcycle safety.

The last round of 2010 grant money was dispersed recently .7 million was sent to individual states to be used for motorcycle safety.All states received atleast $100,000 with Illinois receiving $220,884.00.

$104.00 was donated to our X-mas for Kids from Dee’s Memorial Fund, In memory of Dee DeChausse

We received a $200.00 check for the Murray Center Parents Association for our X-mas for Kids for all that we have done for them

Membership Appreciation goes to Chris from Sonic for donating food & ect for our band shell function

Hank Blues band will be playing @ the Hide Out around November 7th proceeds will go to X-mas for Kids. No Cost to us. Incase of bad weather it will be @ Slo Joes

Hello everyone well the air is cooling off still some warm days left two ride please ride safe. this is my last month as VP had fun we had a good year hope for a better one next year. I was contacted by Deb king there will be a fund raiser fish fry for Abate State Pac put on by John Cavaletto at the Carlyle winery north of town on hwy 127 on the left just past Wal-Mart from 4 till 7 on October 18 all welcome contact me at 267 8011 if you are going there is 20 tickets more If needed best of luck to all new officers I will be of any help I can Donny p

Theresa Duncan spoke about the 10 county breast cancer run coming up on September 26th and a benefit in October. Flyer to be in newsletter with details. Anyone needing help should contact them. Sign up for run will be at the Centralia Moose. I LOVE BOOBS shirts are available. Raffle tickets for $5 to win cash. Mimi has some.
Dee DeChausse's run will be Saturday, Sept. 5th. Sign up at Skipper's
September 12th is DARE run starting at New Baden city park. $15 per person includes run, tee shirt and dinner at the end.
Thank Yous: Doug Broadhurst, John & Terry Groff.

Also a thank you letter from ABATE Pac for the $2080.10 sent to them. This was from PAC Run.

Certificate from Butch Mathus for Coal Miner's Memorial donation.
16 chapters in our region were sent 4 free tickets per chapter to come to Little Boogie.
Flyers put in newsletter will cost $5 for a full sheet for any run except Freedom Riders.
Those going to Biker Farm on Sept. 11th, everyone will meet at Downtown Lounge at 8:30 and will leave at 10.
Christmas for Kids collection on Sept.5th at Pullen & Broadway from 10-2. Help is needed.
We will not have float in parade but everyone is encouraged to ride their bikes, 4 wheelers, golf carts or other vehicles. You can decorate if you want to.
Elections are coming up. All offices are open to anyone, just turn in a letter of intent. Voting will be done at the October meeting. Everyone come and vote.
There will be poker run for Ivan McPhail & Fisher House. Flyers in newsletter.
Tammy Hodge won 50/50. Donated it back to Freedom Riders.

I am really proud to be part of such a great organization and I am very proud to belong to such a great Brotherhood. I have met so many great people who have influenced me. There are so many I can’t name them all but you know who you are. Thanks for everything and good luck to all the new officers.

FREEDOM RIDERS BACK-2-SCHOOL PROGRAM WENT GREAT!!!!!
WE DELIVERED BACKPACKS FULL (I MEAN FULL) OF SUPPLIES TO ALBERS, ASHLEY, AVISTON, BECKEMEYER, BREESE, CARLYLE, CENTRAL CITY, DAMIANSVILLE, FIELD, FRANKLIN PARK, FIELD, GERMANTOWN, GRAND PRAIRIE, HAWTHORNE, HOYLETON, IRVING, IRVINGTON, IUKA, JORDAN, KELL, KINMUNDY, LINCOLN, NASHVILLE, NORTH WAMAC, ODIN, OKAWVILLE, PATOKA, RACCOON, SANDOVAL, SCHILLER, SELMAVILLE AND WILLOW GROVE GRADE SCHOOLS.
THESE SCHOOLS WERE ALL VERY GLAD TO SEE THE BACKPACKS. THEY SAID THIS YEAR PEOPLE WERE HAVING TROUBLE BEING ABLE TO AFFORD SUPPLIES FOR THEIR KIDS AND THEY CAN USE ALL THE HELP THEY CAN GET.
WE PUT FILLER PAPER, NOTEBOOKS, CRAYONS, SCISSORS, GLUE, RULERS, ERASERS, PROTRACTORS, COMPASSES, MARKERS, COLORED PENCILS, PENCILS, PENS, INDEX CARDS, HIGHLIGHTERS, PENCIL CASES, GLUE STICKS AND TISSUES.
THIS YEAR WE WERE ABLE TO SEND THEM DIFFERENT THINGS THEY NEEDED PLUS THE NORMAL THINGS ON THE SCHOOL LISTS. THIS IS ALL DUE TO THE HELP AND SUPPORT I RECEIVED WHEN WE HAD THE SUMMER SPECTACULAR AT THE BANDSHELL IN CENTRALIA.
I STILL WANT TO GIVE A BIG THANK YOU TO BLIND DATE FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO THIS TO RAISE THE MONEY TO HELP AT SCHOOL TIME.

President’s Corner

One of our members, John Groff had a serious motorcycle accident in Urbana, Illinois. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and Terri. Get well soon buddy!!!!

Freedom Riders now have 511 members. We are the 3rd biggest Chapter in the state. Great job!!!!

Our Back to School Summer Spectacular went great. Special thanks to Blind Date. You guys rock! Also Rose Vensel , Chris Winkler and Popcorn Princess LuLu. Everyone had a great time!!! We are really going to make a lot of backpacks this year. Thanks so much!!

Our membership appreciation day was plagued by bad weather but the participants never got wet. Great job Kim and Carol Houser. You guys worked your butts off and it is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much to Slo Joes and staff for taking such good care or us. Congratulations to Monie Brown Our Lady Freedom Rider and all the bike show winners. Hope to see you all come out to our upcoming events.
